In 1978, Donna Pence attended a continuing education class in Stained Glass techniques at Westminster College in Salt Lake City from Bill Thompson of Art Glass Studio. One year later she was teaching those same classes as well as classes for the University of Utah division of continuing education, and the YWCA. By 1980, this hobby became Crystal Rainbow Stained Glass and remained solvent until 1989. Homestead Glass and Mosaic Works was first registered as a business by Donna Pence in the Fall of 1999. A previous business name Homestead Design, an interior design business was registered as an LLC in 2006. Now simply Homestead Glass, Donna Pence, Paul Heath, and Zach Millsap create public and private commissions in colored glass, and offer workshops on a range of art media to adults and youth.
An avid traveler, Donna has taken much of her inspiration for her private glass work from the exotic locations she has visited. Her favorite destination, and now part time residence, is the dramatic geologic landscape and quiet pastoral regions of the Waterpocket Fold surrounding Capitol Reef National Park and the Colorado Plateau. She currently exhibits her glass mosiacs at Gallery 24 in Torrey, Utah.
